The highest technical standards were also paramount for the BRABUS G Wagon INVICTO LUXURY when it came to the development of the new armored vehicle based on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. From the very beginning, the overall ballistic concept was designed for a maximum protection effect, corresponding to the level of armor from the OEM factory.

Unlike other retroactively armored vehicles, the components of the protection system were not individually welded into the vehicle’s body structure; rather, the engineers at BRABUS Automotive have developed an autonomous, self-supporting and bolted structural cell, the so-called INVICTO shelter cell, specific to the BRABUS G Wagon INVICTO LUXURY.

This is inserted into the body in a disassembled state and then built. One of the structural features of the shelter cell is the zero hinge design, which means there is absolutely no constriction at the entrance – similar to an OEM factory plated vehicle body armor.

The armor components are mounted on the shelter cell without free spaces. The inevitable welding seams, for example on doors, are made by overlapping materials and the so-called labyrinths. The design of the upper frame of the windshield is also innovative.

Only after the individual elements of the shelter cell proved their protective effect, the entire cell was tested in the vehicle. Each pair of materials and each bolt joint has been tested by firing from multiple angles and at projectile velocities that far exceed the standard velocity of the caliber against which it is protected.

POWER AND SOUND. REMARKABLE PERFORMANCE.

Maximum performance for BRABUS G Wagon INVICTO LUXURY with the B40S-800 performance kit. Each kit consists of two special BRABUS turbochargers with a larger compressor unit (ø 52 mm) and modified core assemblies with reinforced axial bearings. The increase in performance is completed by the BRABUS PowerXtra control module for the engine control unit.

In addition to an increase in maximum torque from 850 Nm to 1,000 Nm, the nominal power jumps by 158 kW/215 hp from 430 kW/585 hp to 588 kW/800 hp. The plug-and-play control unit is adapted to the electronic production system.

The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 power source with the BRABUS 800 PowerXtra + specification delivers an output of 588 kW / 800 PS (789 hp) and a torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft). The maximum speed is electronically limited to 210 km/h (130 mph).

WHEELS AND CHASSIS. HIGH WEIGHT – BRABUS G Wagon INVICTO LUXURY

The additional weight of the entire vehicle due to the armor is relatively low, approximately 1,000 kilograms, but the load-bearing capacity of the chassis must be modified to meet the high requirements of the BRABUS G Wagon INVICTO LUXURY in terms of driving dynamics and lifespan.

The necessary adjustments cover the entire construction of the front and rear axle of the vehicle. The entire wheel suspension, for example, has been replaced with a new proprietary development, while frame reinforcements around the longitudinal beams and the spring dome increase the strength of the vehicle’s original structure.

Mandatory verification of the new construction included finite element method (FEM) simulations, component analyses, stationary endurance runs and road tests. Thanks to this process established by BRABUS Automotive, the extreme lifetime requirement can be ensured in accordance with the OEM requirements, even with materials subjected to the greatest demands.

To ensure a high degree of driving dynamics, Brabus Automotive equips the chassis with reinforced springs, stabilizers and shock absorbers. The shock absorbers of the active chassis now have a tube diameter of 60 instead of 50 mm, as it was until now.

A modified braking system with 402 mm brake discs and six-piston calipers at the front and 380 mm brake discs and four-piston calipers at the rear ensures adequate deceleration, even with maximum additional load. Rims with an increased bearing capacity and a special flat running system developed by Brabus Automotive complete the adjustments to the vehicle’s chassis.
